Jen Tavenner
Trainer at Doggie Depot

My name is Jen Tavenner and I have had a love for animals ever since I can remember. I have trained my own dogs, dogs of friends and for clients. I have almost 30 years of experience with working with all type animals, including reptiles, small animals and livestock. I grew up on a farm and showed my own cattle. In 2003, I attended Arizona Canine Academy to further my education in training dogs and learning about behavioral issues along with aggression issues. We went to a wolf sanctuary and sat in with wolves learning their behavior and observing them. We also worked with the local animal shelter and trained their dogs to make them more adoptable. I graduated top of my class. I have worked in animal shelters and have evaluated dogs, trained and rehabilitated them. I have attended seminars and have learned from some of the best trainers and behaviorists in the world such as Sue Sternberg, Karen Pryor, Kathy Sdao, Pat Miller, Jesus Rosales-Ruiz, Ph.D. and Ken Ramirez just to name a few. I have also had the privilege of meeting and working with Tim Racer and Donna Reynolds from BAD RAP. I also have some medical knowledge as well from working in the animal field. I love working with dogs, as it’s very challenging and rewarding at the same time. I work on behavioral problems and do aggression cases as well. All my training is done with positive reinforcement. I will not use any choke, shock or prong collars, ever!
