Meet Our Devoted and Experienced Team Members

Laura Schleef

Owner and Head Trainer

Laura opened the Doggie Depot of Virginia in 2017. She spends time at home with her German Shepherd-Beagle mix, her Border Collie mix and her Australian Shepherd . Some day, she would like to own an Irish Setter. Those braces on Laura’s legs aren’t a temporary leg injury. She has an inherited peripheral neuropathy called Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (it has nothing to do with teeth). They help her walk due to the loss of feeling in her feet and legs. It has also affected her arms, hands and breathing, amongst other symptoms. She also drives with only her hands, no feet involved!

Lily Jones

Manager

Lily joined the Doggie Depot team in 2018. She has 5 dogs at home, including a Beagle, Treeing Walker Hound, Dachshund mix, a Husky mix, and a Bully puppy. She also has numerous cats. She will argue two of the dogs and the cats aren’t hers. Her favorite breed is the American Pit Bull Terrier, and someday she would love to open a dog sanctuary. Don’t take advantage of it (several people have), but she will give you the shirt off her back, even if she doesn’t have another one on.

Alexis Drosselmeyer

Lead Dog Attendant

Meet Alexis. Alexis has two dogs, a Husky/Malamute mix, and a young Husky mix. If she could have any breed in the world, she would love to own an Irish Wolfhound. Something interesting about Alexis, when she was younger, she was visiting family in Kansas, and no joke, she was caught in a tornado! Fortunately, she did not end up in Oz, did not see any flying monkeys, and did not kill an evil witch with water. The crystal slippers…

Kaitlyn Rodgers

Dog Attendant and Associate Dog Trainer

At home, she has a mini-Aussie, a Japanese Chin, and her sister recently acquired a mini-Aussie/Bichon mix, who Kaitlyn is currently teaching her siblings to train. Her family also has a pet bunny. Someday, she hopes to own a Husky. In addition to being an awesome baker, she is currently learning to play the drums!

Her favorite breed of dog is the Dalmatian. Fortunately, she able to get some spotted time at the Doggie Depot! And for those who speak Chinese, Tuesday took classes in high school and carry a conversation with you!

Vanessa Forbus

Dog Attendant

Vanessa began with Doggie Depot in 2024. She currently doesn’t have any pets at home, but would love to own an American Bully. Better watch out if meet up with Vanessa at a traffic light, she used to race cars! Since having her daughter, she has decided to spend more time with her family, and has hung up the racing helmet.

Quinn Bickel
