I have always had a passion for animals, growing up with a menagerie of pets, including a purebred Labrador, fish, hamsters, and cats, and visiting my Grandpa’s farm.  Over the years, I continued to grow my experience with animals, adopting everything from mice to rabbits to dogs.  Prior to adopting my first rescue dog, a smaller Labrador/Akita mix, I studied training techniques including socialization, general etiquette and more advanced commands.  I continued training dogs with the addition of my current rescue dogs, a German Shepard/Beagle mix (a Sheagle) and a Border Collie mix, both of whom have completed Canine Good Citizen training.  I have also completed the Karen Pryor Foundations course, a course in force-free dog training focused on positive reinforcement. Over the years, including through dog training, I have been able to observe and interact with a variety of dog breeds, dog personalities and dog behaviors to help equip me with knowledge in running a dog business.  In 2016, I had the opportunity to take my retail, operations and business experience and combine it all with my experience with dogs in order to open a dog day care in Winchester, VA. We finally opened May 2017. In the Fall of 2017, our trainer resigned due to long-term medical issues and I took over the group and individual training classes. I so enjoy seeing the owners and dogs “click” once they get something we’ve been practicing.
